Fountain Clerodendrum or Tube Flower

Clerodendrum minahassae is a large shrub or small tree usually multi-trunked. This plant blooms in spring to early summer with clusters of tubular white flowers giving the allusion of a fountain, thus the common names. After flowering this tree develops very attractive fruits that are deep blue almost purple, surrounded by flattened thick red bracts that resemble a starfish. Just a quick note, this tree does lose all of its leaves during the winter months.
