Jaboticaba
Myrciaria cauliflora like all trees in the Myrtle Family (Myrtaceae), its bark peels revealing a smooth mottled trunk. This is very attractive, and with small leaves that emerge papery red before hardening off to light green, this tree is ideal for tropical bonsai. However, most people grow this Brazilian native for its sweet grape like fruit. It has small white blossoms that develop directly on the multiple trunks and older woody branches. The fruit matures on the trunks about 3 weeks after the flowers emerge. A mature tree can fruit multiple times throughout the year.
Richard Lyons Nursery has this tree in various sizes, including mature fruiting trees.
