Texas Sage
Leucophyllum frutescens is a woody shrub native to the Chihuahuan Desert. It may be an arid growing shrub native to Texas, but it grows very well in South Florida. It thrives in well drained alkaline soils common to South Florida and can tolerate our humid rainy season as well as our drier winters. It flowers throughout the year, but most profusely in the spring. The magenta flowers contrast nicely with its silvery gray leaves and attract an abundance of honey bees and butterflies.
Richard Lyons Nursery currently has this shrub in stock.
