White Star Flower or White Shooting Star

Alibertia sp. ‘Belize’ is a very nice shrub native to Belize which can reach 5-8′ tall and 4-6′ wide. It can be grown in full sun to partial shade and when it is in full bloom, spring through summer is quite striking. The flowers are white star shaped with a very long pedicel giving them the appearance of a shooting star. Of course, between the shape and the dangling growth of the flowers, the common name arises.
