Ylang-Ylang Tree and Dwarf Ylang-Ylang Tree
Conanga odorata is the full-size Ylang-Ylang Tree and Conanga odorata var. fruticosa is a dwarf Ylang-Ylang Tree. They both have very fragrant flowers in the evening and early morning hours. The full-size tree can attain a height of 30+ feet in South Florida, while its dwarf cousin maybe only 12-15′. The flowers of both look identical and are yellow straplike blossoms. The oil of this flower is the main component of Chanel No. 5 perfume. The tree is native to Southeast Asia but grows very well in South Florida. The fragrance of these flowers can be smelled from several blocks away if the the breeze is blowing in the right direction.
Richard Lyons Nursery currently has both varieties in stock.
